ArieL Tseng is a MUSIC teacher, performer, and recording artist based in Victoria, BC.

When Ariel was 12 she watched the movie Drumline starring Nick Cannon and discovered that she was a drummer, much like how people discover that they are gay or extroverts. She formed her first garage band a few months later. At some point she also became proficient at guitar because she was emotional and needed to sing emo ballads. She picked up bass guitar the same way many others pick up bass - because her band needed a bass player and she was worse at guitar than the other guy. She played only guitar and bass through university since she couldn’t bring her drum set. Thankfully, as university neared an end, she was directionless, and joined a rock band on Craigslist on a whim. She has been working in the music industry ever since. In her mid twenties, Ariel took one year of college level music theory and was top of her class before dropping out, so she now considers herself quite well versed in theory.

As the drummer of Fortune Killers Ariel was kind of a big deal (locally). Her biggest claim to fame was being interviewed by Rolling Stones Magazine (.com …). She has been recognized in public by at least 2 people, and has performed locally at Rock The Shores, Phillips Backyard, Rifflandia, as well as many more festivals across Canada. She has toured extensively across Canada, and shared stages with Sam Roberts Band, Cake, The Pack A.D., and Sweatshop Union. Ariel has also recorded with producers Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother), and Tom Dobrzanski (The Zolas, Said The Whale).

Ariel opened Drum It Studios in 2016. Her specialties on drums are RnB and pop/punk (emo). Her specialty on guitar is music theory. She loves teaching and also teaches skateboarding and swimming as side hustles.
